Conversion rate The share of visitors who make a purchase.
Cross-selling (add-on sales) Offering products that complement the main purchase.
Engagement rate The level of activity and interaction among learners.
Feedback Information returned that helps to correct and improve.
Gamification Using game mechanics to strengthen engagement.
Generative AI (in training) AI that can produce learning content from source material.
KPI (key performance indicator) A quantified measure of success against an objective.
Learning path An ordered sequence of modules leading to a skill objective.
LMS (Learning Management System) A platform for managing and delivering training.
LXP (Learning Experience Platform) A platform centred on the experience and personalisation of learning.
Merchandising Showcasing products in store to encourage sales.
Microlearning Training in very short, focused units that are immediately actionable.
Mobile learning Learning on a smartphone, within the flow of work.
Onboarding The integration journey of a new team member.
Point of sale The physical place where the sale to the customer happens.
Product knowledge The command of products needed to advise and sell well.
Retail The sale of products to the end customer.
Retention (memorisation) The ability to retain what has been learned over time.
Sales enablement All the resources that help sales teams sell better.
Skill growth The measurable progression of a team member's know-how.
Social learning Learning from and through others.
Spaced repetition Reactivating knowledge at growing intervals to retain it better.
Trainer / instructional designer The person who designs and runs training content.
Upselling (trading up) Offering a higher-end product or a higher-value option.
